Mathematics Grading Policy
50%: Tests and Quizzes
Students are given at least five days notice for every test. Pop quizzes are based on vocabulary or formulas and are unannounced. Quizzes are announced two days before and a list of topics are given to review.
Homework is given everyday and includes reviewing notes, redoing classwork examples and studying vocabulary words and formulas.
There are two writing pieces done for every unit. A mid-unit writing piece is to assess the student's knowledge of topics learned in the beginning of the unit. At the end of the unit a final assignment is given to assess the student's knowledge of the entire unit.
Participation is based on a student asking questions during class and not calling out and by a student being engaged during group work, which includes asking group members questions, helping group members answer problems and completing the assignment.
